The History of the Stone
The History of the Stone
Its name "Aventurine" was only recently given to it, in reference to "aventurine glass" . It is a synthetic crystal, which resembles natural stone. In 1700 a glassmaker accidentally poured copper filings into molten crystal. This produced a remarkable effect, which gave rise to all sorts of iridescent glasses containing glitter. " Per aventura " in Italian means " random ". Natural aventurine has also received other names over the ages, such as " Prase " in English, which comes from the Greek meaning "leek" , in allusion to its green color.
